The EMDR Research Foundation has compiled this resource to support practitioner access to information to guide the development of research projects and inform clinical practice. It was developed in response to numerous inquiries from EMDR therapy practitioners about accessing databases, empirical articles, non-university-based Internal Review Boards, measurement tools, and other resources. Some of these resources require a fee, but many are accessible to the public. We encourage you to explore what they have to offer and share with us any additional resources you discover that could be helpful to others.

Note that many subscription databases offer a free trial period.

EMDR Early Intervention Researcher’s Toolkit

Created by the EMDR Research Foundation, this practical resource was introduced in December 2014 to support research that investigates the use of EMDR Early Interventions in the treatment of trauma and disaster situations, whether that is a natural or man-made disaster, individual trauma, or events that impact larger communities. The Toolkit is an introduction to conducting research in disaster situations or in clinical situations such as crisis clinics, emergency rooms, or rape treatment centers. It highlights disaster response research methodology, including Randomized Controlled Trials, access to many of the EMDR Early Intervention Protocols, and guidelines to appropriate research measures in a readily accessible online format. It is our hope that the Toolkit will make it easier and more likely that EMDR clinicians responding to trauma and disaster situations will use a standardized approach and collect appropriate data as an integral part of their response.
The Toolkit text includes:
A. Selection of Design (Randomized vs Non-Randomized)
B. Selection of Intervention/Protocol
C. Selection of Measures
D. Follow-up
E. Implementations and Monitoring
F. Collection of Data
G.Publications (coming soon)
The Toolkit Appendices include:
Appendix A: Sample of Clinical Forms (including client information and client consent forms)
Appendix B: Table of Measures
Appendix C: EMDR Early Intervention Protocols, Resources, and References
Appendix D: Pocket Guide to EMDR Early Intervention Protocols
